Mountain Justice and Shaleshock, Sharing Strategies to Strengthen a Movement.

The Mountain Justice Movement ties communities together to build political strength via a burning sense of overdue justice for the people of Appalachia. Shaleshock is a young movement, recently spurred to life across the southern tier of New York State in response to the land-leasing revolution by energy companies that would take away private land rights, replacing them with pipelines and hydrofracking pollution of air and water. Mountain Justice can teach how to prevent widespread environmental and community destruction across another beautiful American region. Shaleshock can share its growing political clout to strengthen both groups and widen the hope that “where the people lead, the leaders will follow.” A one-hour round table discussion with Dave Cooper of the Mountain Justice movement and the emerging Shaleshock leaders will get the ball rolling.
